(Late 2000s) train, Akihabara, LEDs, red autumn
In Japan in the late 2000s, many people still used feature phones. Now that we have smartphones, 80% of passengers are playing with their smartphones on the train.
Akihabara in Tokyo used to be known as Electric Town, with many small shops selling electrical parts. However, Akihabara is now a place where “Otaku (Geeks and Nerds)” from around the world gather as a land for anime and subcultures.
The use of LEDs in urban illumination has made them brighter and clearer, but I feel that they have lost their softness and warmth.
In autumn, Japanese people head to famous places for autumn leaves. The beauty of the red leaves pleases us, but we must be prepared for the hustle and bustle.
