(Early 2010s) Capsule Hotel
Capsule hotels first appeared in Japan in 1979. It's a cheap lodging facility designed for people who missed the last train to spend the next few hours until morning. The stacked coffin-like space is equipped with a bed, TV, radio and clock. Toilets, restaurants and showers are located in common areas.

The first time I used a capsule hotel was in 2010. It was an unknown world for me. It's an early-type old capsule hotel that was built a long time ago, but the space made up of white FRP units has a futuristic atmosphere that looks like something out of a sci-fi movie.
There is no door at the entrance/exit of each capsule. Only one curtain separates the capsule from the corridor. I'm worried about security, but when I check in, I put my belongings in the locker before entering the capsule, so basically I don't have to worry about my valuables being stolen. However, it is a system based on mutual trust, as it provides minimal privacy.
Lastly, if you have claustrophobia, don't choose a capsule hotel.

The last picture is straight out of a sci fi novel! Have you seen Andor? (Star wars spin off) there is a prison scene very similar to this.
