(Early 2010s) Morning Service
Komeda's Coffee is a popular coffee shop chain all over Japan.
When you enter a Japanese coffee shop and take your seat, you are served a glass of water and a Oshibori (wet towel). Of course, both are free. Oshibori are provided for you to wipe your hands before you start eating or drinking.
Also, from the time the store opens until 11:00 AM, you can get a benefit called “Morning Service”. If you enter the store during the "Morning Service" time and order a drink, you will receive a toasted bread and boiled eggs for free.
This "Morning Service" system is said to have originated in the Tokai region around 1950, and has been spreading throughout Japan in recent years.
