(Early 2010s) Osu Shopping Street in Nagoya
In the area adjacent to the Osu Kannon temple in Nagoya, there is a large shopping street called Osu Shotengai.
This shopping street was built in the 1910s, and contained entertainment halls and movie theaters, making it one of Nagoya's biggest entertainment districts. In the 1970s, many stores selling electrical parts opened, and the area became popular as an electronics town.
Since then, stores related to subculture such as cosplay, figures, and maid cafes have entered the area, as well as stores selling inexpensive apparel and accessories, making it a popular area among young people.
In addition, this area is dotted with temples and shrines of all sizes, making it a unique area where a retro atmosphere and pop culture coexist.

I recommend checking out Tohoku's Hiraizumi some time, lots of history there and lots of natural sites. Also check out some of the castles in Nagoya if you haven't already. These are sensational!
There’s also a GREAT Italian restaurant in Osu that we’re trying to keep a secret. ;-)
