(Early 2010s) Kurumazaki Shrine and Geino Shrine in Kyoto
Kurumazaki Shrine in Kyoto is often used as a filming location for movies and TV dramas, as there is a movie studio nearby. Additionally, there is an Geino (entertainment) shrine within the precincts, so many people in the entertainment industry, including actors, singers, and comedians, come to pray.
I have so many photos from circa 2016-2018 when I lived in Japan and started photography. They're trapped on an old computer. I should try to resurrect them. I love your substack btw.
As always love all of these pictures, but most especially your country's torii gates. There's just something about stepping past them that feels magical, like being.... 'Spirited Away' and yet invited into the bosom of Japan.
