Apparently this spam curry is an Okinawan food. Although Okinawa has now been returned to Japan, it was ruled by the United States until 1972, so there is a mix of cultures that came through the United States.

I shudder to think what it tastes like.

Spam is not a common food in Japan, and I've only had it a couple of times.

Are they part of your Disaster Food Collection?

These are not emergency food for me. I think retort (boiled-in-bag) food is not suitable for disasters because it requires boiling.

Yes, I was thinking about canned food more than retort.

Canned food is certainly suitable as an emergency food. I like canned Thai curry and eat it sometimes. And I sometimes make zenzai with canned red bean paste.
