If I was young and rich, I'd travel there. I'd of course have to visit Kyoto, but I would look for ordinary places with ordinary Japanese, not the rich glittering places and people, to spend my time, perhaps live if I felt welcome, study Japanese and history, pottery.
I like your Japan: it seems homey, livable.
I've only lived in Japan, so I can't compare it to other countries, but I feel at home here.
