I’m curious—what’s the pink telephone for?

That is a public phone. Pink public phones were often placed inside restaurants, but in the 1980s they changed from rotary dial to push button, so I think that phone is from the 1970s or earlier.

I think the thin iron stakes are covered with empty cans because they are dangerous.

Thanks. But sorry, I meant the wreath-type thing hanging on the door... I must have mis-counted...

Ah, I see. That is a shimenawa (sacred rope) to celebrate the New Year. In Japan, it is a custom to hang it on the front door.
