Red Eared Sliders are considered an invasive species in many many US waters beyond their native region in the same process as commercially sold pets were released into new habitat for various reasons.
When I was a child, there were baby turtles for sale at the stalls along the streets on festival days. At the time, they were given the Japanese-sounding name "Midorigame", but looking back, I think they were red-eared sliders.

I enjoyed the image of the pedal boat swan with the ducks. Very clever.
