My wife has what she calls her “men at work” series of photos taken of people just doing their jobs at the various monuments, museums, etc, that we visit on our travels. The gardeners at a Commonwealth War Graves Cemetery in Orkney or staff at the Scottish Parliament building or at the Skara Brae Neolithic site. These have also led to some great conversations about these various sites and what life at them is like. M

I think documentary work like this is important. I often photograph people at work as well. The last shot of the wheelbarrow with the work implements in the foreground and the worker out of focus in the background is an excellent narrative image.
