In many Japanese restaurants, a call button is placed on the table to summon the staff. Even if there isn't one, it is by no means rude in Japan to call out or raise your hand to get a server's attention. Furthermore, an increasing number of restaurants nowadays allow customers to order food or call for assistance using a tablet placed at the table.
