Honmaru Goten, located on the grounds of Nagoya Castle, was built in 1615 and designated as a national treasure in 1930, but it was destroyed along with the Nagoya Castle castle tower in an air raid in 1945.
Nagoya Castle's castle tower was rebuilt in 1954, and restoration work on the Honmaru Goten began in 2009 and was completed in 2018.
When I visited in 2012, I was able to tour the Honmaru Goten, which was under reconstruction. The photos below were taken at that time.
I added a paid plan to this publication in April 2024, the first anniversary of its launch. But don't worry. All articles are still available for free. If you pay me, you won't get any benefits, but I promise to use it to keep this work going.
Great!
The original buildings must have shown great workmanship, but the same can be said of the rebuild. Beautiful!
