Laconia
2008
My Substack is a place to post Japanese photos, but please allow an exception this time.
“Laconia” is an e-book that Peggy and I created together in 2008. Peggy and I met on a music website. She used to upload many pictures on her profile page. I was fascinated by the pictures she took of the small town of Laconia (New Hampshire, U.S.A.), and I offered to make a book of her photographs.
She worked as a writer, not a photographer. So I suggested adding her text to her photo, and I was in charge of direction and design. We have never met face-to-face, never even talked on the phone, we just exchanged emails and the work progressed, and this “Laconia” was completed.
Until now, I had published this work on “issuu”, but due to changes in the terms of use of issuu, it has become unviewable. Unfortunately, Peggy passed away four years after “Laconia” was published, but I hope that this photo book will live forever.
