Currently, construction of the next-generation Shinkansen "Linear Chuo Shinkansen" that uses a superconducting magnetic levitation system is underway in Japan between Tokyo and Nagoya, and is scheduled to open in the mid-2030s. After that, the Nagoya-Osaka section is scheduled to open in the 2040s, and we will eventually be able to travel between Tokyo and Osaka in about an hour (the current Nozomi Shinkansen takes 2 and a half hours).
