Onigiri must be seaweed? Also the New Years box looks amazing and probably tastes it as well!

Rice balls, containing a meat or vegetable filling. They can be wrapped in nori, or plain. Delicious and nutritious!

Onigiri also seems to be popular with tourists visiting Japan from overseas. As Ofifoto says, there are also onigiri that aren't wrapped in nori seaweed.

In the old days, Japanese people ate the most sumptuous meal of the year on New Year's Day. This was Osechi.

Oh I love 🥰 onigiri. When I lived in Japan I used to have one for lunch every day. The パリパリ of the seaweed as you cracked it was just delicious!!!!!!

When I was a child, there were no paripari seaweed onigiri. In the mid-1980s, a package that separated the rice and seaweed was developed, and onigiri with a new texture began to be sold at convenience stores, and now they are common. When I first tried paripari seaweed onigiri, I was shocked by how delicious it was. However, sometimes I crave traditional onigiri. By the way, the onigiri I featured in this article is traditional moist seaweed onigiri.
