Godzilla appeared in front of the TV tower (its current name is “Chubu Electric Power MIRAI TOWER” but I'm more familiar with it by the name “TV Tower”) in Nagoya City. He will celebrate the 70th birthday of the TV tower at that location for about 3 months from June 20th to September 23rd, 2024. Both the Nagoya TV tower and Godzilla were born in 1954. Yes, they both turned 70 this year.
The Godzilla that appeared in Nagoya this time is the one that appears in the film “Godzilla Minus One”, which will be produced in 2023 and won the Academy Award for Best Visual Effects in 2024. YAMAZAKI Takashi, who directed, wrote the screenplay, and was in charge of VFX for “Godzilla Minus One”, also attended the unveiling ceremony, held on the eve of the statue's release, and gave a speech.
I have seen “Godzilla Minus One” 3 times in cinemas: on a regular screen in November 2023, in IMAX in December, and in the black and white version called “Godzilla Minus One / Minus Color” in January 2024. I think this film is a masterpiece on par with “Shin Godzilla” released in 2016.
I am not a Godzilla maniac or a huge fan of Kaiju (monster) movies, but many Japanese people of my generation cannot avoid them, so Godzilla has frequently appeared in my publications and notes.

I haven’t seen a majority of the Godzilla movies but I’ve liked most of the ones I’ve seen. As my brother told me Godzilla minus one has no reason to be as good as it is.
Godzilla manages to inspire love and fear and that’s awesome
I love the movie
