Floppy Disk & Magneto-Optical Disk
When I started using computers in the mid-1990s, floppy disks were in their heyday. Unfortunately, they had limited storage capacity, so we used MO to submit DTP data, including photo data, to the printing company.
Hi8 (Videotape)
VHS and Betamax were too large for home video cameras, so 8mm video was developed, and then Hi8, a high-definition version of 8mm video, was released. I used to record my daily life with a FUJIFILM Hi8 video camera around 1990, but now that the format has fallen out of use, there is no way to play the tapes from back then.
Cassette Tape
Cassette tapes are the most memorable recording media for me. I always had cassette tapes in my car as well as at home, and I would always decide what music to play before starting the car engine.
DAT (Digital Audio Tape)
DAT offered sound quality of incomparable quality to cassette tapes, but both the tapes and the decks were expensive, so it was mainly used by professionals and did not become popular among the general public.

This is so nostalgic
We loved the role played in the film Perfect Days (starring Koji Yakusho in 2023) by the cassette tapes and the shop that specialized in them!
