I'd always dreamed of broadcasting to the masses in some illicit way, for me it was the film "Pump up the Volume" that inspired the idea. I was never confident evough to talk in a mic and my music was never cool enough to have got a following I'm sure though. Bit different now, as I don't care if I'm cool and can complete a sentence or two on mic.
The setting where no one knows who is sending the radio waves from where maximizes the magic of radio. I have never seen "Pump Up the Volume", but I like "American Graffiti" and "The Boat That Rocked".

Both those films are great as well. I'm sure Pump up the Volume influenced a whole bunch 40 somethings to start podcasting.
