Well, I had to look it up but apparently not. 'Sweet Dreams' came out 2 years later and I definitely saw them in October 1981 as part of Freshers' Week at Aberdeen University. Annie Lennox comes from near Aberdeen, which is probably why they were booked; we have the same accent!
I looked it up and it seems that 1981 was the year that Eurythmics debuted. So you went to see their gig right after their debut. As you said, "Sweet Dreams" became a hit two years after their debut.
Same age as me! I think my first gig was The Eurhythmics, two years later when I began university.
Wasn't that around the time “Sweet Dreams” was a hit?

Like I said, she was local, and local bands get local gigs …

Great memories, captured.
That's a great idea for a post.
Wow thank you for these moments in time! The mixtape is especially As soon as I saw the title the song came right back into my head!
Thank you. Music is like a time machine that takes us to wonderful times.
These were all happy timestamps for me, until I saw the last one😧
When I saw the news, even I, who lives in Japan, thought, "Seriously?"
