Saul Leiter

He never gave in to the desire to be famous.

It's only been a few years since I first encountered Saul Leiter's photographs, but the moment I met him, I felt sympathy for him. Luckily, Saul Leiter's photo exhibition “SAUL LEITER Origins in Color” is being held in Tokyo this summer. Without hesitation, I boarded the Shinkansen (bullet train) and headed for Tokyo.

I was very happy to see the actual color positive films that he shot.

And in the last room of this photo exhibition, Saul Leiter's slide photos were played endlessly. I spent a lot of time in that space.
