I started buying records when I was in junior high school, but at first I only bought singles.
At the time, I wasn't interested in Western music, and I hadn't yet found a music genre that I was passionate about, so I only listened to Japanese pop music.
Then I gradually started listening to foreign music too. I mostly listened to it on the radio, but occasionally I would buy single records.
Then I discovered funk music and became completely hooked on it, and from that point on the records I bought changed from singles to albums.
Spin Off
Among the albums, there was also a unique variety called picture records. They were more expensive than the regular ones, so I have only ever bought two picture records.

Love it! You ever listen to Parliament or Funkadelic? They've got some great funky numbers; particularly like Funkadelic's Maggot Brain (https://funkadelic.bandcamp.com/album/maggot-brain) and Parliament's Mothership Connection (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EAaMCh8Xy14)
Most of the singles I collected when I was a teenager are gone, I think I was transitioning to cassette tapes after around 1979? These are great photos, you've inspired me to go look for the few I have left.
