I love CITY POP too. I previously created a playlist of my carefully selected city pop songs on Spotify, so if you have a Spotify account, please listen to it.
Yes, been loving what I've heard so far. I just started diving into funk, but there's so much to listen to so I'm a little lost; I'm sure I'll find my way though!
There is certainly a wide variety of funk music depending on the era and region, so it's no wonder you're confused, but if you're hooked on P-FUNK, use that as a starting point and keep listening to more, I'm sure you'll find something wonderful.
Love the progression, and the classic “Hotel California” in the middle. I had gotten rid of all my records, but starting a couple years ago started collecting albums and 45’s, playing them on a vintage Sansui turntable : )
That's great! Sansui was a brand I admired, and I had always wanted to own a Sansui amplifier, but in the end, they were too expensive and my dream never came true.
I think there are probably some Sansui products on the Japanese used market today. However, my way of listening to music has gradually shifted from analog to digital over the past 20 years, and I have sold most of the records and CDs I owned. I plan to write about that in an essay someday.
Most of the singles I collected when I was a teenager are gone, I think I was transitioning to cassette tapes after around 1979? These are great photos, you've inspired me to go look for the few I have left.
Thank you for your comment. As time goes by, the way we listen to music has changed, and the concept of "buying a song" is disappearing. I accept this change positively, but at the same time, I feel a little lonely. I'm sure you feel the same way.
Yes, they are like the black or color vinyl records but with pictures on them.
Yes, of course it contains music. Picture records are printed paper covered in clear vinyl, with the music actually engraved on the vinyl.
I listen to city pop so often. Especially when I’m practicing my Japanese.

Perfect! I’m gonna download this before this flight haha.

Love it! You ever listen to Parliament or Funkadelic? They've got some great funky numbers; particularly like Funkadelic's Maggot Brain (https://funkadelic.bandcamp.com/album/maggot-brain) and Parliament's Mothership Connection (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EAaMCh8Xy14)
Do you like funk music too? Yes, of course I love both albums. After all, George Clinton is a charismatic figure in funk music. (^_-)

Bootsy!
Great collection!
Thank you. Those records make me feel a little embarrassed for some reason.

There are many here in the used market, are they harder to find there? Your dream may come true yet😁
