This is so much synchronicity. I only just read "Before the Coffee Gets Cold" by Toshikazu Kawaguchi which talks about Tanabata Festival. One of the character's family runs a ryokan up there.

There’s quite a fun Japanese supernatural drama on Disney+ about this festival called ‘The Land of Tanabata’.
It seems like a scary and interesting drama.
