In Japan there is an old custom called "ohineri" of wrapping money in paper and throwing it, so I speculate that there may be money inside these cards, but unfortunately I do not know the true purpose of these cards.
Thank you so much for this, what a wonderful show of community spirit, and national pride, a fact so important, however the west has sadly forgotten. The children are so engaged, the littlest ones are so sweet in their concentration, adorable. Japan gets a lot of things right, not everything, but in the the important things, we could learn a lot from. Thank you so very much for sharing this. 😀
I'm sure those children have been practicing for months before the festival, and when they grow up, they will pass on this tradition to the younger generation.
Impressive show of gunpowder in the square! What are the cards that are thrown at the swordsmen?

This is so wholesome to behold!
Although the theme of this festival is war, the festival itself is very peaceful.
It is often the case with historical festivals :)
Very cool! I did not know about this festival, thanks for this
This festival is a traditional event for local people and is not widely publicized, so it is not very well known.
